Las Vegas, NV - April 4, 2023 - Lifting Lucy, a nonprofit organization that supports Black Indigenous and all Women of Color in the brewing industry and ABSTRAX have joined forces to assist women from underrepresented communities in attending the Craft Brewers Conference 2023 (CBC 2023). ABSTRAX is a leading technology company that specializes in innovative solutions for the food and beverage industry. Both companies are aligned in their desire to address the underrepresentation and lack of investment faced by women of color in the brewing industry.
Through this innovative partnership, the inaugural "House of Lucy" initiative will offer lodging for up to nine women of color during CBC 2023. This year, the largest craft brewers conference in the United States will be held in Nashville, Tennessee. “House of Lucy” will have an economic impact of over $8,000 and address the issue of accommodation expenses, which is a common barrier to entry for Black, Indigenous, and other Women of Color (BIWoC) at cornerstone events in the brewing community.
"We're thrilled to collaborate with ABSTRAX to increase BIWoC attendance at one of brewing industry’s most impactful events," said Ashlie Randolph, Lifting Lucy co-founder. "This partnership will directly improve their access to networking opportunities, mentorship, and resources during CBC 2023."
The long-term aim of the partnership between Lifting Lucy and ABSTRAX is to provide resources and networking opportunities for women of color in the brewing industry.
"By supporting Lifting Lucy, we hope more women of color will be able to expand their expertise and positively impact the food and beverage industries”, says Ross Hunsinger, Director of Food and Beverage Innovation at ABSTRAX. “We are committed to creating equal access to opportunities for individuals that have a passion for this important industry.”
“Women of color currently hold less than 1% ownership in the brewing industry,” says Tranice Watts, Co-Founder of Lifting Lucy. “This partnership is an important step towards achieving equity for BIWoC.”
